Jahazii Raises $400K to Build the Operating System for Africa’s Workforce

Jahazii, the fintech startup redefining financial services for Africa’s workforce, today announced the close of its $400,000 pre-seed round, a combination of equity, debt, and grants. The round saw participation from Antler East Africa, DEG Impulse, Jozi Angels, Innovest Afrika and carefully selected angel investors. The funding will accelerate Jahazii’s mission to build Africa’s Workforce Operating System – unifying HR, payroll, and embedded financial services to unlock financial inclusion at scale.
Across Sub-Saharan Africa, 87% of jobs remain informal. This means millions of workers earn wages without contracts, protections, or access to affordable finance. Employers, in turn, struggle with inefficient workforce management, manual payroll, and compliance risks.
“Informality is the biggest structural barrier holding back Africa’s economic transformation,” said Sven Grospitsch, CEO of Jahazii. “Without systems that provide structure and credibility, workers remain excluded from financial opportunities, and organizations can’t scale efficiently. Jahazii exists to change that.”
Unlike traditional financial providers, Jahazii partners directly with employers, embedding financial products into the payroll cycle. Employees gain instant access to earned wages, savings, and insurance, while employers streamline HR operations and compliance. This payroll-backed model eliminates the predatory practices and unsustainable economics that have plagued Africa’s digital credit market.
“By embedding financial services into the paycheck, we’re building the financial infrastructure for Africa’s middle class” Sven added. “This investment allows us to scale responsibly, deepen employer partnerships, and give workers fair financial access without the traps of high-interest loan apps.”
